Dear Friend
Our next concert takes place on Saturday 15th February in our usual venue, Melrose Parish Church, and we hope to see you there. The programme features Bach's Oboe and Violin Concerto performed by our own orchestral members, Chris Crosby (Oboe) and Cath Cormie (Violin). It will be in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Tickets are now on sale through our website or by following the Winter Concert 2025 link below. Please note that we will be opening two entrances to the church for the concert, one for those who have pre-purchased tickets, and one for those wishing to buy their tickets at the door. For those purchasing tickets in advance it should mean that you don't have to queue outside. Tickets will be electronically scanned so please either have a printed version ready or the electronic version on your phone screen.
The programme for our Summer Concert is now published on our website. The concert will feature Clio Scott, a young flautist from the Scottish Borders, currently studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, who will be performing the Mozart Flute Concerto No.1 in G

We are happy to welcome back Robert Dick to conduct our winter concert which features the orchestra’s own Cath Cormie and Chris Crosby as soloists in J.S.Bach’s delightful concerto for violin, oboe and strings. This is bookended by Wagner’s lovely Idyll written as a birthday gift to his wife in celebration of their marriage and the birth of their son Siegfried, and Beethoven’s lively and lyrical fourth symphony.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution was our chosen charity for our Autumn Concert on 2nd November 2024 in the year the RNLI celebrated its 200th anniversary. In the Scottish Borders region the RNLI operates a lifeboat station at Eyemouth and provides lifeguards at Coldingham Bay.
We raised £89.39 in donations at the concert. The orchestra was able to add £410.61 to this from ticket sales to make a donation totalling £500. Thank you to everyone who supported us.
Further information about the RNLI can be found on their website https://rnli.org/
